This Main Street gallery houses an outstanding collection of original aquatints and lithographs by Swiss artist Johann Karl Bodmer and other documentation of an important expedition to the Western United States. This 1832 expedition, headed by Rhenish naturalist Alexander Philip Maximilian, Prince of Wied, has connections to the New Harmony scientific community, due to its six months’ stay in town. The collection can be toured as part of the guided walking tour from the Atheneum Visitor Center.
