View artwork by Hoosier artist Leota Loop (1893-1961), best known for her floral still life paintings and landscapes of the scenic hills of Brown County.

Leota was a frequent exhibitor in the Hoosier Salon annual exhibition and the H. Lieber Galleries in Indianapolis, best known for representing prominent Indiana artists including: T. C. Steele, William Forsyth, and fellow Hoosier Group artists. One highlight of the exhibit is Pink Peonies in Copper, painted in 1961 to commemorate the state adopting the peony as the state flower.

The exhibit can be seen on Historic New Harmony’s guided walking tours. Tours take place at 1 pm daily from the Atheneum/Visitor’s Center. Information on the tour program and how to obtain tickets may be found at www.newharmony.org.

The exhibition was produced by the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.
