New Harmony Music Festival & School Free Concerts

Two free concerts on Thursday — a pop-up concert over the lunch hour and an evening concert. Here are the details:

12:15 PM CDT Pop-Up Concert at New Harmony Soap Company, 512 Main St., New Harmony, IN.

This concert features American folk singer and guitarist, Jefferson Hamer and friends. Jefferson Hamer has made a name for himself in the folk tradition b yvirtue of his ethereal, high tenor voice and deft skills on his guitar. Jefferson’s American and Celtic song repertoire is sure to please even the most discriminating ear. An excellent “preview” of tonight’s traditional concert.

EVENING

7:30 CDT: Traditional Musics – Living Traditions at Murphy Auditorium, Tavern Street

Trad music and songs from Appalachia to Ireland to Scotland, Spain and elsewhere. Returning artist Martha Waldvogel joins Jefferson Hamer, Christopher Layer and others in a celebration of traditional music the whole world round.
