New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art
The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art was founded in 1975 as the offspring of Historic New Harmony Inc.’s revitalization project of the town, backed by Jane B. Owen and the Lilly Foundation. In 1985, University of Southern Indiana assumed management of the gallery as part of Historic New Harmony. This not-for-profit gallery features a rotating exhibition space that hosts seven exhibitions per year and a consignment shop. There is artwork from 60 to 100 of the Artists represented, on display and available for sale in the shop year-round. All the artists represented are either currently Midwest based or have a strong tie to the Midwest and/or New Harmony.
The gift shop focuses on affordable contemporary utilitarian artworks, wall pieces, jewelry, and gift items. Special items, such as handmade ornaments, are available around the holidays. The unique and handmade fine art, gifts, and jewelry from more than 100 Midwestern artists have prices starting at $2.
New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art also offers custom archival framing.
