Hoosier Art Salon partners with the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association (IPAPA) to create this amazing annual event in April. The First Brush of Spring event invites artists to participate in workshops, Plein Air painting (painting outdoors) and to enjoy the pervasive camaraderie with other artists. In the โField to Finishโ event, artists have blank canvases stamped before they sketch outdoor subjects. They take the piece home to study and produce a larger scale finish to display both pieces of work in the Hoosier Art Salon New, Harmony Gallery during the following yearโs event so artists and art lovers alike can appreciate the creative process. Artists have a full year to complete the composition to exhibit.
Saturday is filled with art sales open to the public in the historic Ribeyre Event Center and judged competitions, held outside in the Holy Angels yard, where the Best of Show will be announced. During this event, hundreds of easels holding the paintings created from the week are displayed on the lawn. It is quite a site to see!
Take time to smell the lilacs as you walk through town and watch artists paint.
