Kunstfest – always the third weekend in September. September 21-22, 2024.
Dulcimer Festival (Dulcimer Chautauqua on the Wabash) – October 3-6, 2024. (Dates may vary from year to year.)
MEET IN THE STREET Community Potluck – Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm, with the location within the New Harmony Historic District. (Exact spot, TBD.)
Christmas in New Harmony Festival – the first weekend in December. In 2024, it will be December 6-8, 2024.
TOURS!!! You have options!
— During peak season, there are tours that depart from the Atheneum Visitors Center at 1:00 pm led by University of Indiana’s Historic New Harmony division. Tours cover a wide range of New Harmony historic locations and begin with a special short movie about New Harmony. Tours will resume in March.
— Wednesday through Sunday hour long tours of the Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites depart at 11:00 and 3:00 from Community House #2 at 410 Main Street. These tours focus on the historic properties owned of two Utopian communities — the Harmonists and the Owenites, including Community House #2, Thrall’s Opera House, the Rapp-Owen Granary, the Fauntleroy House, Thrall’s Opera House, as well as the Harmonist Cemetery. Each of those days, they also have 45 minute tours of Community House #2 that are offered at 10:00 and 2:00.
RECURRING EVENTS and more!
— Second Saturdays — from March through November, local businesses and groups schedule activities to enliven the town and delight visitors. Information about each month’s events can be found on the Second Saturdays Facebook page and on this site.
— Preschool Storytime for kids and their caregivers each Thursday at 10:30 am at the Working Men’s Institute Museum & Library
— Haunted New Harmony Ghost Walks every Friday and Saturday. Reserve your spot at HauntedNewHarmony.comy.comHauntedNewHarmony.com.
— Patio Jams live music at the Red Geranium on many Friday and Saturday evenings late Spring through Fall from 6pm-9pm. Also, live jazz is often available on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm.
— $6 burger night at the Red Geranium on Thursdays after 4:00. ASK for the $6 burger special.
— New Harmony Music Festival & School (second week in July). On hiatus for 2024.
— Live Music Events at Sara’s Wine & Bier Bar/Say’s Restaurant
— Monthly Market Auction at Wilson’s Auction, typically on the second Saturday of each month, with the auction preview the afternoon before
— Moonlight Walks at the Cathedral Labyrinth (April through October, the Saturday closest to the full moon)
— Meet in the Street Community Potluck — this year, October 6, 2024, 4:30 pm.
— Weekly jam sessions at the Elliott Farmhouse, 1221 Church Street, courtesy of the New Harmony Artists’ Guild, typically on Thursday evenings.
— Second Saturdays initiative, March through November. These pull together a full slate of art gallery happenings, special classes and lectures, and all kinds of other experiences

— Gallery openings and receptions throughout the year at Hoosier Salon and the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art
— Sound Baths, exhibitions, Wednesday evening Yoga, and other special events at Black Lodge Coffee Roasters

— Art glass fusion classes at Capers Glassporium.
— Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market, every Saturday morning, Spring through early Fall, 9-12, on the lawn of the Working Men’s Institute. Sponsored by the Working Men’s Institute.
— Planning is underway for a Porch Music Fest.
— Townwide yard sale (date TBD — usually a Saturday in April)

American Legion Post 370 at 516 E. Church St – Open Tuesday through Sunday. The public is invited any time for food, but cannot drink alcohol unless it is one of the 5 rotating guest days per month or a member signs a guest in. Call to find out this month’s guest days.
Black Lodge Coffee Roasters at 610 Church St. – Open every day except Wednesday. 8:00 am – 3:00 pm each day but Monday, when the closing is at 1:00.
The Main Cafe at 508 S. Main St. – Open every day except Sunday. Breakfast and lunch. Monday – Saturday 6:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Red Geranium (and Grapevine Bar) at 504 North St. – Open every day but Monday and Tuesday.) 8:00 am – 8:00 pm Wednesday & Thursday; 8:00 am to 9:00 pm Friday & Saturday; on Sunday, open from 8-2 and 5-8.
Sara’s Wine & Bier Bar – at 500 E. Church St. Open Thursday 12-8; Friday & Saturday 12 – close (bartender discretion, typically between 8 and 10); Sunday 12-7.
Say’s restaurant at 500 Church St. (Corner of Main and Church) – Open Thursday 5-8, Friday 11-2 and 5-8; Saturday 11-8; Sunday, 11-7.
Yellow Tavern at 521 Church St – Open every day but Sunday. Hours are Monday – Thursday 11:00 am to 9:00 pm; Friday and Saturday 11:00 am – 10:00 pm.
’22 CHRISTMAS in New Harmony

Starting Friday, Dec. 2 with the New Harmony Inn’s classic old-fashioned tree lighting in their expansive outdoor courtyard, “Christmas in New Harmony” is a weekend of a Hallmark style Christmas celebration in a Hallmark style town!
Our celebration includes parades, vendors, food, music, children’s activities, Santa visits, a Gnome Scavenger hunt, horse and carriage rides, unique shopping and a wonderful house tour on Sunday!
This little town brings back the warmth of an old fashioned Christmas where you’re walking from shop to shop, enjoying the sounds of carolers in the streets and sampling the tasty treats of the holidays! Our vendors provide everything from home baked goodies to incredible works by skilled artisans that make exquisite gifts for those on your list. And the Holiday House Tour highlights the diversity of architectural styles in this beautiful and historic town.
Come for a day or spend the weekend at one of our guesthouses, bed and breakfasts or the New Harmony Inn.

Christmas House Tour, featuring five houses, each with a different architectural and decorating style. House Tour tickets can be purchased from any committee member $20. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the Information Booth during Christmas in New Harmony. The Information Booth will be located in Community House #2, along with 20+ vendors.
Saturday, December 10
Christmas Dance from 7:30-? Details to follow.
An Outdoor Decorating contest for all businesses and residences will be held, with prizes to be awarded. Watch here for downloadable entry forms, deadline for entering, and prize information.
