Kunstfest Kick-off Concert (ages 21+)

Join us to kick off Kunstfest with a bang this year as we open our historic Thrall’s Opera House to live music, dancing and drinks! We will be featuring – for the first time ever – the Bros. Lewis Band, a group known for their upbeat, dance-inducing rock and roll. Beer and wine will be provided by St. Philip’s Inn as well as some light refreshments. Hit the dance floor and blow off some steam before enjoying the townwide festival! Thrall’s Opera House is located at 612 Church St., New Harmony. Attendees must be 21+.

Back by popular demand, we are hosting another spooky murder mystery party at Thrall’s Opera House! This year’s story is set in the wild west, and each attendee will receive a unique character to portray. Light refreshments will be provided. Recommended for ages 12+.

The back story: Yesterday in Mitchido, Richard Woods – a wealthy landowner – was shot down in cold blood whilst he was riding to town. He leaves behind his wife Katherine and daughter Annabel. There is a gathering of his family and the townsfolk to discuss what should be done. The people at the meeting look uneasy. They are not sure who will be arrested as the murderer, and they are afraid that the gunslingers that are present might take the law into their own hands if they don’t like the verdict.

Can you solve the crime? Players also have the chance to win prizes for best costume, so get your best western gear on and come on out!

Discover what was uncovered during the 2021 excavation of the 1816 Harmonist Church site from Michael Strezewski, associate professor of anthropology at the University of Southern Indiana. Explore Indiana’s history of traveling performers and prohibition during the roaring 1920s, all while hunting for clues and trying to crack the case!

Each participant will have a unique character to portray, and light refreshments will be served.
